Tuesday, February 21, 2006 - Web posted at 7:03:57 GMT Results of probe into Gochas maladministration out soon * LUQMAN CLOETE at KEETMANSHOOPTHE Gochas Village Council and its Village Secretary, Henry Bock, will soon hear the outcome of a ministerial investigation into claims of maladministration, nepotism and tender irregularities. |
|
A senior official in the Ministry of Local Government told The Namibian on Friday that the findings and recommendations of the investigation had been completed and would be forwarded to the Ministry's Permanent Secretary this week. The Namibian has it on good authority that the village councillors will get off relatively lightly - the report is believed to recommend training for them. The investigation was ordered after villagers at Gochas, about 100 km southeast of Mariental, staged a demonstration last November. They accused councillors of nepotism and tender irregularities, while Village Secretary Bock was accused of misusing a council vehicle and fuel for private purposes. |
