2 murder attempts

* STAFF REPORTER

A 27-year-old man from Outjo was hacked with a panga on Monday evening and sustained severe injuries to his head, neck and arms.

Police reported that he has been transferred from the Outjo State hospital to Windhoek.

A 47-year-old man has been arrested on a charge of attempted murder.

* At Keetmanshoop, a 31-year-old man was stabbed in the chest during a fight on Tuesday morning.

Police on Wednesday reported that he was in a critical condition in the Keetmanshoop State hospital, and that a male suspect has been arrested.

* Police yesterday reported the death of a six-year-old girl, Maureen Breedt, at Grootfontein on Monday afternoon.

She had been a passenger in a Toyota bakkie which overturned 54 kilometres east of Grootfontein.

* A 37-year-old Rehoboth resident was found dead in the Noaspoort Dam at the town on Monday last week.

Willem Witbeen had been reported missing the previous day, and Police suspect that he drowned in the dam.
