Burglar beaten to death

* STAFF REPORTER

POLICE in Windhoek are investigating a case of murder after a suspected burglar was beaten to death in Windhoek West on Friday evening.

Eric Gariseb (35) and two others allegedly broke into a house in Robert Koch Street at around 21h00.

They were caught red-handed when a man house-sitting the residence returned.

Warrant Officer James Matengu said yesterday that Gariseb allegedly attacked the man with a screwdriver while the others carried goods out of the house.

The man is alleged to have struck Gariseb on the head with a stick in self-defence.

The suspect died on the spot.

Matengu said the other two suspects locked themselves into a toilet until the Police arrived.

He said neighbours saw the three men entering the house and called the Police.
