Jacobs tendered the expenses claim after he attended a month-long all-expenses-paid training workshop in Berlin and Bonn.

Councillor Toivo Nambala yesterday told The Namibian that the Council this week decided to consult the Attorney General's office and Public Service Commission to recommend what disciplinary steps to take against Jacobs.

Jacobs claimed an amount of N$18 228 before he even left Namibia on the trip and submitted a second claim for N$25 592,38 upon his return.

In an earlier interview, Ursula Sekulla, project manager for the workshop, told The Namibian that the entire costs of the workshop were covered by the organisers.

According to Sekulla, participants even received 354 Euros (N$3 373) for pocket money.

Sources close to the Regional Council told The Namibian that Karas Governor Dawid Boois proposed at the Council meeting that Jacobs be suspended or transferred to another region.

However, the Council decided to first consult the Attorney General's office and the Public Commission before taking any steps.

Boois declined to comment on the meeting yesterday.

An assistant accountant in the Regional Council's offices, Piet Afrikaner, on Tuesday told The Namibian that Jacobs had accused him and a colleague of leaking information to the newspaper.

"After the accusation, I've received a letter from Jacobs that I've been shifted to another department as meeting administrator," Afrikaner said.
