Security guard stabbed in robbery

STAFF REPORTER

A SECURITY guard at an Ohangwena shebeen was stabbed with a knife and tied up on Sunday morning when robbers made their way into the building.

The unknown suspects apparently cut open the corrugated iron sheets of the building and held the guard inside at gunpoint.

They tied him up with his own T-shirt, stabbed him, and stole his shotgun before making off with goods valued at N$5 400.

No recovery has been made.

* A 23-year-old man died on the Western bypass in Katutura on Tuesday morning, after allegedly jumping from the Katutura bridge onto the road.

The deceased, identified as 23-year-old Dorre Christof, was run over by a car.

* A woman was raped in a riverbed behind the Wanaheda clinic in Windhoek on Tuesday night.

Police have arrested the suspect.

* The Wanaheda Police are investigating a case of robbery with aggravating circumstances, after a woman was robbed in Windhoek's Goreagab Dam area.

The suspect apparently held the woman at gunpoint before robbing her of telephone recharge vouchers and cash to the value of N$3 600.

* The body of a man who went missing at Tses in the Karas Region two weeks ago has been discovered.

Police reported yesterday that the body of Richard Hamman (29) was discovered at the town by his brother.

No foul play is suspected.

* Police are investigating a case of negligent driving at Keetmanshoop after a car overturned on the road between Keetmanshoop and Gruenau.

The incident happened about 80 km outside Keetmanshoop, after the driver apparently lost control of the car.

The driver escaped unhurt, but the only passenger was seriously injured.
