Minister reacts to road deaths

STAFF REPORTER

MINISTER of Information and Broadcasting, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, yesterday expressed Government's condolences to the families of the 17 people who died in a road accident between Grootfontein and Rundu.

She called on citizens to drive carefully during the holiday season, to keep within speed limits, not to overload, not to drink and drive, and preferably not to drive at night.

"Traditionally Namibia's roads are very busy during this time of year when people are travelling to spend time with their families.

It is therefore sad that so many lives are lost during the festive season," the Minister said.

"This accident follows close on the tragic accident that claimed the lives of four young people at the coast during the past weekend.

Government would also like to express its heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families who lost children in that accident," the Minister said.
