Telecom's satellite woes

STAFF REPORTER

TELECOM Namibia has apologised to frustrated subscribers who have had to deal with hanging phone calls and Internet connections lately.

It attributes the problem to technical difficulties with its IP VSAT system, an Internet and telephony solution that provides voice, fax and Internet services via satellite.

Telecom has a total of 324 VSAT (very small aperture terminal) sites situated throughout the country, all of which are experiencing technical glitches, says Telecom's Senior manager for Public Relations, Oiva Angula.

"Telecom engineers and technicians are working to solve the problem and our customers will again be able to enjoy stable and reliable VSAT services as soon as they can fix it," he said.
