What Real Men Should Do

Thank you for giving me a space in your newspaper.

I'd like to address a matter that I find very distressing.

I watched the programme 'Tupopyeni' Monday evening on NBC and was shocked when I heard the following statistic: one out of five Namibian women live with domestic violence.

So please allow me to express my views on this point.

This is a very sad situation for women to be in.

I myself am a man, and honestly do not understand why some men think they have to hit a woman.

It's despicable.

Real men are not abusers.

Real men control themselves and look for peaceful solutions to problems.

Real men don't take out their anger on women.

Real men are not controlled by their anger or by alcohol.

Real men don't abuse women - neither physically nor emotionally.

Women aren't punching bags, and no man has the right to treat them as such.

If you want to punch something, I suggest you take up boxing.

Ladies, if that man hits you once, he's going to do it again.

You don't have to take it.

There are many men out there who will cherish and adore you.

Don't allow excuses for a man abuses you.

One day he might go too far.
