Problems With Passports

MY handbag was stolen with my ID and passport and I need to visit family abroad.

Firstly, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) tells me that I will be fined N$160 for losing my passport.

Secondly, MHA has run out of the ordinary Namibian passports that cost N$160 and they can only issue me with a 48-page one for frequent travellers, costing a further N$360.

So, before I start my travels, MHA is asking me to pay N$520 when I believe that I should only be charged N$160 for a new passport.

Why is MHA fining people who are victims of crime? Why are Namibian passports only valid for 5 years, when other passports last 10 years for adults? MHA should stop these fines.
