2 injured in shootout at the Swakop corral

DENVER ISAACS

A DISPUTE between two bus drivers over the business of a few customers led to a deadly row at Swakopmund on Tuesday morning - with two people being rushed to hospital and another being arrested.

The Police reported yesterday that 29-year-old bus driver Paul Areab had been arguing with a fellow driver over two customers who were seeking transport to Windhoek.

During the argument, the 25-year-old suspect allegedly pulled a gun on Araeb and shot him in the foot.

The bullet ricocheted and hit another man, Kamati Martin, in the stomach.

Both victims had been discharged from hospital by yesterday afternoon, while the gunman has been arrested.

He was charged with attempted murder, negligent handling of a firearm and discharge of a firearm in a municipal area.

The incident took place at the Engen Service Station.
