Miss Namibia on her way to Miss World

ANNA Nashandi, Miss Namibia 2006, will now be able to attend the Miss World pageant to be held in Poland on September 30.

This was made possible through generous financial contributions from Petronam and Agribank.

At a press conference in Windhoek yesterday, Tarah Shaanika, CEO of the Namibia Chamber of Commerce and Industry, appealed to the Namibian business community to support Miss Namibia not only in her endeavour to attend Miss World but also in the various charity projects that she is committed to during the year of her reign.

"NCCI is happy to be associated with Miss Namibia; she is an inspiration to Namibians who can look up to her and realise that they too can become achievers and entrepreneurs," Shaanika said.

Naeman Amalwa, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Petronam, donated N$30 000, and Leonard Iipumbu, CEO of Agribank, donated N$10 000.

"The franchise fee to enter a contestant in the Miss World pageant costs N$40 000, so we are very grateful to Agribank of Namibia and Petronam for their generous contributions," Conny Maritz, National Director of the Miss Namibia Pageant said.

Nashandi leaves for the Pageant on August 31.

Namibians will be able to watch the event on OneAfrica Television on September 30.
