N$20 000 offered for information on horror murders

*STAFF REPORTED

THE Namibian Police have offered a N$20 000 reward for information that will lead to the arrest of suspects in the horrific murders of two young women in Windhoek recently.

On Sunday, the headless body of Juanita Mabula (21) was found in the vicinity of the horse stables next to the capital's Prosperita area.

Mabula's head is still missing and the family have reportedly appealed to the murderer/s to return it to the spot were her body was found.

They want to bury the head with the rest of the body.

Mabula was last seen at around 04h00 at the Engen Service Station in Windhoek's Independence Avenue, the Police said yesterday.

An earlier statement said she was seen at the service station at around 03h00.

The second woman is Melanie Berhilde Janse, who was murdered and dumped in the grass near the Van Eck Power Station on August 20.

Police Deputy Commissioner Marius Visser said the 22-year-old Janse was strangled and found naked in the grass next to the Western Bypass.

The search for the murderer was already underway when Mabula was killed and her head cut off.

Her naked body was dumped in a similar manner to that of Janse.

Police said yesterday that all information about the two murders would be treated confidentially.

Information can be provided to Deputy Commissioner Visser at (cellphone) 081 128 2380, Chief Inspector Sass at 081 127 9560 or Detective Warrant Officer Scott at 081 127 6130.
