Ministry sets ETSIP record straight

THE Ministry of Education wishes to point out that some incorrect information was provided to the media regarding its Education and Training Sector Improvement Plan (ETSIP).

Contrary to what was reported last week, a revised plan puts the total implementation cost at N$11,1 billion and not N$12,6 billion as was noted by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

The Ministry also did not receive N$415 million in pledges from donors at its roundtable conference to fund the plan, as reported.

In fact, this money is what donors are already pumping into the education sector via State revenue and which will go towards supporting ETSIP.

The Netherlands has pledged to support the ETSIP programme with funds equivalent to 30 per cent of the European Commission's support to the Ministry of Education.

Government requires another N$2,6 billion to fund ETSIP.
