No arrests, no head in slaying case

* WERNER MENGES

NO arrests have yet been made as the Police yesterday continued with their investigation into the killing of the late Juanitha Mabula, whose beheaded body was found lying next to Windhoek's Western Bypass road on Sunday morning.

By late yesterday afternoon, the Police had not yet arrested any suspects, and had also not been able to find Mabula's head, said Warrant Officer James Matengu from the Police's Public Relations and Liaison Division.

They were also still faced with the challenge of trying to fill in a five-hour gap between the time Mabula was last seen alive, and the time her headless corpse was discovered.

Matengu said Mabula was last seen alive at around 03h00 on Sunday.

By about 08h00, she was found dead next to the Western Bypass close to a turn-off to Windhoek's horseracing track next to the city's Prosperita area.

She was naked and her head had been cut off.

Mabula would have turned 22 this coming Sunday.

According to relatives in Windhoek, she had lived in the city for the past few years.

She grew up at Mariental, and has a child that is about four years old.

The Police have asked anyone with information on Mabula's last movements to assist with the investigation of her death.

They have also given an assurance that any information that is provided will be treated confidentially.

Information can be provided to the nearest Police station, or to Detective Warrant Officer Scott at (cellphone) 081 253 0303, or to Joey Swartz at 081 294 6011 or (061) 218 225.
