Monday, September 26, 2005 - Web posted at 6:41:21 GMT Headless corpse found in Windhoek *STAFF REPORTERTHE headless body of a woman was found by a passer-by near Windhoek's Western Bypass road yesterday morning. |
|
Police say the naked, headless body of the woman, who is thought to have been in her early twenties, was discovered lying near a gravel road leading to horse stables on the southern section of the Western Bypass around 08h00. A man walking his dog made the discovery when his dog sniffed out the body where it was lying behind some bushes. Police spokesperson Chief Inspector Angula Amulungu said the woman's head was not found at the scene, and nor was any clothing. The Police are now trying to establish her identity. One of the few clues they have to pursue is a star-shaped tattoo on her lower back, Amulungu said. Another source who visited the scene early yesterday reported that the woman's head appeared to have been cut off together with part of her neck. It also appeared that the woman, who is black, might not have been killed at the scene, but that her remains might have been moved there after she had been killed. Amulungu asked anyone who has information that could assist the Police to contact the nearest Police station or the Police's crime officer for Windhoek, Inspector Barry de Klerk, at (cellphone) 081 129 0054. |
