Road birth

WINDHOEK - A young woman gave birth on a street in Katutura on Sunday afternoon.

An elderly woman living on the street told Nampa that she was about to take an afternoon nap when she heard unusual noises outside her yard.

When she went out to investigate, she found a young woman in an advanced stage of labour on the pavement.

The baby arrived before she could summon a taxi to take the pregnant woman to hospital, she said.

Another woman with a car eventually took mother and baby to hospital.

Both were fine and were discharged on Monday.
