A TOURIST from England died on Sunday after the double-cab bakkie she and her family were travelling in overturned between Henties Bay and Uis.

The woman, a Mrs Ford, said to be in her 70s, was apparently flung out of the vehicle.

She died on the scene.

Her daughter, Lynne Burton, sustained serious head injuries and was taken to the Henties Bay Clinic, where she was stabilised.

She was then taken to the Cottage MediClinic at Swakopmund, from where she was flown to the Windhoek MediClinic later that evening.

Another International SOS rescue team went out to the scene of the accident where Mrs Ford's husband, John Ford, was treated for multiple lacerations to his head.

Their son-in-law was not seriously injured.
