Thursday, January 27, 2005 - Web posted at 7:24:13 GMT No cotton this year OMEGA - The Namibian Development Corporation's (NDC) Regional Manager, Ernest Likando, says no cotton will be planted at Omega Agricultural Farm this year due to poor rainfall in the area. |
|
Likando said about 290 hectares at the farm were prepared for cotton planting earlier this year, but it is too late to start planting cotton now. He encouraged farmers to use the prepared fields to plant mahangu for their own consumption. He also announced that the corporation would not provide crop farmers with farming implements this season, saying it is too costly and farmers are advised to make use of casual workers to plant their mahangu. - Nampa |
