Mbanderu Chief Munyuku hospitalised in Windhoek

PETROS KUTEEUE

MBANDERU Paramount Chief Munyuku Nguvauva II, who has been recovering from a stroke since November, has been readmitted to hospital after his condition deteriorated last week.

A senior headman of the Mbanderu Council, Ripuree Tjozongoro, told The Namibian that the Chief was taken to the Roman Catholic Hospital in Windhoek on Friday after he became unable to talk and eat.

Ngavauva II, who is also the Deputy Chairperson of the Council of Traditional Leaders, is expected to remain in hospital for at least the next two weeks.

"Though serious, his condition is not critical … he is now able to drink a glass of water, the only major problem is that he can hardly talk," said Tjozongoro.

A week ago, The Namibian reported that the 82-year-old Mbanderu leader was well on the way to recovery after suffering a stroke on November 17.

He had been discharged from a Gobabis hospital and came to Windhoek for further monitoring and physiotherapy.
