Principals in court on fraud charges

GOBABIS - Two school principals appeared in the Gobabis Magistrate's Court on Thursday on charges of fraud and theft.

The Principal of Gobabis Primary School, Cyprian Pogisho (45), appeared on a charge of fraud, while the Principal of Omuhaturua Primary School, Steve Kavari (40), appeared on a charge of being in possession of stolen motor vehicle spare parts.

Pogisho is one of eight people who were arrested by the Gobabis Municipality for tampering with their pre-paid electricity meters last year.

The municipality lost about N$75 000 because of electricity fraud.

Magistrate Hellen Namushinga postponed Pogisho's case to March 22 for plea and trial.

Kavari's case was postponed to March 8 for further investigation.

The bail of both school principals was extended.

Pogisho has paid bail of N$500, while Kavari was granted bail of N$1 000.
