Tuesday, January 25, 2005 - Web posted at 7:38:45 GMT Sandal scandal leads to walk of shame GOBABIS - A young man appeared in the Gobabis Magistrate's Court on a charge of theft on Thursday. |
|
The State alleges that Bennie Goeieman (25) stole sandals valued at N$45 from a Gobabis resident, Paulina Namises. Magistrate Hellen Namushinga postponed the case to February 23 for further investigation. Goeieman was granted bail of N$100 and immediately applied for the amount to be reduced. He said he could not raise the amount, as he was struggling to survive. However, the Magistrate refused to reduce his bail and Goeieman will remain in custody until his next court appearance. Prosecutor Conchita Olivier handled the State's case. Goeieman conducted his own defence. - Nampa |
