Botswana envoy visits the Karas Region

LUQMAN CLOETE at KEETMANSHOOP

BOTSWANA High Commissioner to Namibia, Norman Moleboge, this week paid a two-day familiarisation visit to the Karas Region.

He said sound relationships built through familiarisation visits at various levels between South African Development Community (SADC) countries help nations in the region to operate effectively.

"In this context our visits are aimed at creating good co-operations and to explore investment opportunities between states," Moleboge said.

"Once such investments co-operations foundations are laid, we in the SADC region can provide a conducive environment for the international community", the high commissioner added.

The Mayor of Keetmanshoop, Simon Petrus Tiboth, offered Botswana investment opportunities in the tourism sector of the Karas Region.

Tiboth also suggested the twinning of Lobatse in Botswana and Keetmanshoop, saying the size, people and democratic institutions of the two towns were similar.

"Through this association we hope to address problems compounding the development of tourism," Tiboth said.
