Woman at Otjiwarongo shot by boyfriend

A 23-year-old woman has been transferred from Otjiwarongo to the Windhoek Central Hospital after allegedly being shot, the Police reported in a crime bulletin released yesterday.

Belinda Kanjone was shot and injured in the shoulder with a .22 rifle on Sunday evening.

Her 37-year-old boyfriend has been arrested and charged with attempted murder.

* The Otjiwarongo Police are holding two teenage boys on rape charges.

The pair, aged 15 and 17, are alleged to have raped a nine-year-old girl in the Orwetoweni suburb at Otjiwarongo at around midnight on January 15.

* A 74-year-old woman, Namadhila Ligola Uugwanga, has been found dead in her bedroom.

She committed suicide by hanging herself with a rope on Monday morning at the Iikokola village in the Uukwaluudhi area. Her next of kin have been informed.

* A 21-year-old man died and his two sisters were seriously injured after being struck by lightning at Eshosho village in the Ohangwena region on Sunday.

The deceased has been identified as Jonas Kautewa. His sisters were admitted to the Okongo State Hospital. They were working in their mahangu field when the incident took place.
