Ombudsman eyes South

THE Office of the Ombudsman is to embark on a nine-month visit to the south to hold various meetings in the Hardap and Karas regions.

The meetings will start the second week of March and last until November.

The team from the Ombudsman's Office will visit most villages and towns in the two regions.

The team will also visit prisons.

This will be the first extensive visit to the south since the inception of the Ombudsman's Office.

Short visits were conducted to the south when former Ombudsman Bience Gawanas was in the driving seat.

The visits could pave the way for the establishment of a satellite office in Keetmanshoop to serve the southern parts of the country.
