Man arrested for stabbing wife, daughter

OSWALD SHIVUTE at OSHAKATI

POLICE at Eenhana are investigating the murder of Lahja Ndeitwa, who was allegedly stabbed to death by her husband, Robert Ndeilenga on Sunday night.

Ndeilenga (30) appeared in court at Eenhana yesterday and the case was postponed for further investigation.

According to the Police Commander in the Ohangwena Region, Deputy Commissioner Armas Shivute, Ndeitwa was stabbed with a traditional knife during an argument with her husband.

She was stabbed twice in the chest and died on the spot.

Ndeilenga then allegedly started stabbing their two-year-old daughter, Dute Ndapwa, but neighbours intervened before she was seriously injured.

The child was stabbed in the cheek and the right arm, and is receiving treatment at the Engela State Hospital.

The Eenhana community are very angry about the murder and wanted to stage a demonstration yesterday.

However, it had to be called off because the Police were too busy with security arrangements for President Sam Nujoma's visit to the region today.
