Last season, the Daan Viljoen Dam stood at 24,7 per cent of full capacity. The Omaruru Delta Dam is also dry, according to the latest NamWater Dam Bulletin. The Von Bach Dam, which provides water to much of central Namibia, is at 39,9 per cent of its capacity, slightly lower than its 45, 8 per cent level of last season. Windhoek's Goreangab Dam stands at 101,5 of its full capacity, the same as last season. The Hardap Dam near Mariental is 45,8 per cent full. The weekend's rainfall figures were as follows: Katutura - 47 mm, Eros Airport - 40 mm, Suiderhof - 35 mm, Okahandja - 40 mm, Gobabis - 22 mm, Keetmanshoop - 12 mm, Mariental - 9 mm, Grootfontein - 42 mm, Katima Mulilo - 31 mm, Ondangwa - 12 mm, Outjo - 16 mm, and Rundu - 17 mm. The Windhoek Weather Bureau says areas such as Otjinene, Tsumkwe and Aroab can expect good showers over the next three days. By Thursday, clouds will redevelop in the central and northern areas. |
