Woods is player of the year

NEW YORK - Tiger Woods was voted PGA Tour player of the year for the seventh time in nine years on Tuesday, capping off a comeback season that included major victories at the US Masters and British Open.

After undergoing a torturous swing overhaul that limited him to a single title in 2004, Woods returned to form and the top of the world rankings in 2005, claiming six titles and over $10 million in earnings.

Along with the Jack Nicklaus trophy that goes to the player of the year as selected by his peers, Woods' crowded mantelpiece will also hold the Arnold Palmer Award as the Tour's top money winner and the Byron Nelson Award for lowest scoring average (68.66).
