Microsoft to invest US$1 billion in India

NEW DELHI - Microsoft Corp., the world's largest software maker, plans to invest more than US$1 billion in India, a source close to the firm said yesterday, joining other multinationals expanding operations in the fast-growing economy.

Microsoft relies heavily on India's booming US$17,2 billion software services industry to source quality skills at costs far below average Western salaries.
