Those hazy, crazy days of August

* ABSALOM SHIWEDHA

STRONG winds in and around Windhoek are responsible for the hazy conditions that many residents have mistaken for smoke from veld fires on the outskirts of the city.

"There is no burning anywhere.

You can ask around," weatherman Odillo Kgobetsi told The Namibian yesterday.

Kgobetsi said the haze was expected to clear up from today.

He said that cloud cover stretching from the North to the South was causing higher night temperatures, but it was too soon to expect rain.

Veld fires are common at this time of the year.
