Police investigate 3 deaths

THE Police at Ondangwa are investigating the death of Joseph Elias, who drowned in a dam at Omahenene location in the Ondangwa area last Monday.

No foul play is suspected.

Ondangwa Police have opened another inquest into the death of Panduleni Haukelo (22) who hanged himself in his room last Tuesday.

In Okahao, Police are investigating the rape of a 17-year-old girl by a 37-year-old man in the bush near the victim's house.

The suspect has been arrested.

In Swakopmund, Police are investigating the death of Kennedy Naweseb (21), a homeless man who sustained critical burns when the car he was sleeping in caught fire on Wednesday.

Police suspect that the fire was started by a burning cigarette.

Naweseb died near Usakos while being rushed to hospital in Windhoek.

* Three suspects have been arrested in connection with the theft of a cow that was slaughtered at the Uvhungu-Vungu Dairy project on Sunday night.The three were arrested at a nearby village yesterday morning after the Police followed their tracks from the crime scene.

The Uvhungu-Vungu project is situated about 10 kilometres east of Rundu in the Kavango Region.

The dairy supplies milk and fruit juice to local schools, hospitals and shops.

Regional Councillor Herbert Shixwameni strongly condemned the incident, saying such practices hampered socio-economic development in the region.
