Four men convicted of stealing sheep

GOBABIS - Four men have been convicted of stock theft in the Gobabis Magistrate's Court.

The four - Petrus Jacobs (30), Sedeliues Kheingob (66), Jeremia Kanigob (44) and Lazarus Witbeen (47) - were convicted of stealing 11 sheep from a farm near Leonardville on 23 January 2004.

The value of stolen sheep was put at N$4 950.

Magistrate Wouter Maske sentenced Jacobs to a one-year jail sentence without the option of a fine.

The other three men were sentenced to fines of N$3 000 or a year's imprisonment.

They may pay the fines in instalments of N$500 a month.
