President and Nujoma leave for Gaborone

PRESIDENT Hifikepunye Pohamba left for Gaborone, Botswana, yesterday to attend a two-day Southern African Development Community (SADC) Summit.

Founding President Sam Nujoma also left for Gaborone - at the special invitation of the SADC Secretariat - to attend the summit.

Nujoma will join two other former presidents, Dr Kenneth Kaunda of Zambia and Nelson Mandela of South Africa.

They too were specially invited by the SADC Secretariat.

The Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Industry and Defence, Marco Hausiku, Immanuel Ngatjizeko and Charles Namholoh, left for Gaborone on Sunday already to attend the SADC Council of Ministers' meeting ahead of the summit.

President Pohamba and Nujoma are expected back home on Thursday.

The current economic and political problems in Zimbabwe will top the agenda of the grouping's summit.
