Monday, August 30, 2004 - Web posted at 10:50:51 GMT SMEs to showcase wares at Otjiwarongo annual show TONDERAI KATSWARASIX Otjiwarongo based small and medium enterprises (SMEs) owned by previously- disadvantaged Namibians will for the first time display their products at the north-central town's annual show from the 8th to 10th September. |
|
The six participants at the annual show, a highlight of Otjiwarongo's business calendar, attended a day-long trade fair exhibition workshop last week. According to a press release, the SMEs met selection criteria based on their ability to grow and to create jobs in line with Namibia's objectives to expand its economic base and enhance the competitiveness of the private sector through entrepreneurship. SMEs at the workshop in Otjiwarongo included the owners of two communication and business services centres, a watch retail and repair business, a funeral undertaker, a school uniform producer, and a garment and footwear manufacturer. The workshop programme included design and preparation of promotional material, techniques for effective display of goods and a planning and stand layout exercise. That event, as well as the shared show stand, was hosted by the Otjiwarongo Rotary Club and facilitated by SMEs Compete, a USAID-funded project for SMEs. |
