Tomas Gabriel is alleged to have raped the girl in a hut at a homestead on July 25. The case was adjourned to October 6 for further investigation. The girl had returned from school at the time of the alleged incident. Gabriel allegedly ordered the girl to take off her uniform before raping her. The girl, a Grade Four pupil, is related to the headman's wife and lived with the family at the village. The headman's wife found the child in distress and, together with other villagers, went to report the matter to the Police at Oshakati on the same day. Gabriel is the headman of Othingo village. According to Chief Herman Ipumbu of Uukwambi, under which Othingo village falls, he is now suspended because of the incident. - Nampa |
