Swakopmund bed and breakfast robbed

THE Mchuman Bed and Breakfast in Dr Libertine Amathila Street at Swakopmund was robbed on Monday.

Armed thieves stole N$ 1 500 in cash and five expensive knives valued at about N$5 000.

Three robbers entered the Mchuman B&B in the early hours of Monday morning.

They held the receptionist at gunpoint before making a getaway in a taxi with the cash and knives.

The driver of the vehicle, Petrus Kornelius (25), was apprehended shortly after the incident.

The thieves, however, remain at large.

* A 13-year-old boy, Chikalila Poniso, is believed to have been trampled to death by elephants in the Kongola area of the Caprivi Region.

The incident occurred at about 17h00 on Thursday.

Poniso and two friends were collecting firewood.

His friends managed to escape unharmed when the elephants approached.

The teenager's body has been retrieved.

* Herman Aibeb (38) has been arrested on the farm Hurisib in the Grootfontein District in connection with a murder and a rape.

He is accused of fatally stabbing Martha Guios (38) with a knife.

After this incident, he allegedly raped a 16-year-old-girl.

* The Engen Service Station on the corner of Sam Nujoma Drive and Nelson Mandela Avenue in Klein Windhoek, was raided at about 09h00 on Sunday.

Three men entered the shop, one armed with a revolver and the other two carrying pistols.

Employees were chased out of the shop, while the manager was forced to hand over cellphone recharge vouchers worth N$2 500 and about N$6 500 in coins.

The suspects made their getaway in a white Corolla.

* A hitchhiker was robbed of N$1 000 at the Okatana Service Station at Oshakati at around 09h00 on Sunday.

Three men held Immanuel Haimbodi at gunpoint while he was waiting to hitch a ride to Windhoek.
