Nam go down to Zimbabwe A

NAMIBIA lost their three-day international cricket match against Zimbabwe A by eight wickets at the Wanderers Cricket Club yesterday.

The Namibia President XI managed 309 all out in their second innings, leaving Zimbabwe A only needing 45 runs yesterday to win the match.

Zimbabwe finished the game on 45/2.

Their dominance was secured through a massive first innings score of 479/8 after Namibia had only managed 214 all out.

Jan Berrie Burger once again dominated Namibia's batting yesterday reaching 160 - more than half their overall total of 309.

Rudi Scholtz managed five wickets for 84 runs in the first innings and took one more wicket in the second innings.

Bjorn Kotze's took two wickets from 94 runs in the first innings and another one for the second innings.

Zimbabwe's Craig Wishart was his country's the top batter in the three-day game with a total of 175 runs in the first innings and 25 runs in the second innings.

Gary Brent also contributed to Zimbabwe's victory with a total of 120 runs while Richard Simms recorded 76 runs.

Brent also grabbed three wickets for 30 runs in the first innings, while he took two more in the last two days.

The two nations will tackle each other again in the second three-day match between September 4 and 6 at the Wanderers Cricket Club.

Namibia beat the Zimbabweans 2-1 in the ODIs last week.
