Suspected Islamic extremists kill three in Algeria

ALGIERS, July 7 (AFP) - Suspected Islamic extremists have killed three brothers in the Annaba region, 600 kilometres (360 miles) to the east of Algiers, an official said on Sunday.

He said the brothers, aged 26, 28 and 40, were stabbed to death as they returned home at around midnight on Saturday.

Their death brings to at least 55 the number of people killed in attacks by suspected Islamic militants since the start of July, according to a toll gathered from official and media sources.

Thirty-eight people were killed in a bomb attack on a market at Larbaa, near Algiers on July 5, Algeria's independence day. - Nampa-AFP
