Minor rape suspects in court at Otjiwarongo

A 27-year-old man accused of raping a nine-year-old girl appeared in the Otjiwarongo Regional Court on Tuesday, a court official confirmed to The Namibian.

Patrick Oxurub pleaded not guilty. The case was postponed to June 24 because the doctor who examined the girl is still on leave. The suspect remains in custody.

"Oxurub is accused of having lured the girl into a field between 18h00 and 19h00 on April 11 2001, where he forced her to have sex with him," the court official said.

* The case of another rape suspect, Antonio Jorge, has been remanded to June 14 for further Police investigation.

The 32-year-old Angolan allegedly raped a minor girl at the Osire Refugee Camp on March 16.
