NBC warns on cheques

CHRISPIN INAMBAO

THE Namibian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) has warned the public and the business community not to cash cheques stolen from the broadcaster.

The NBC says it will not be liable for cheques in the series: 08274-082500.

Since last December almost 30 cheques have been stolen from the NBC and though several attempts to cash the cheques were thwarted, two transactions were processed costing the NBC an amount of N$154 000.

Initially sources indicated the theft took place within the Finance Department but the NBC now insists the crime occurred in its Human Resources and Administration Department.

Members of the Commercial Crime Investigating Department have started investigating the theft after they were alerted by NBC Director General, Dr Ben Mulongeni about the crime.

Mulongeni has also launched an internal inquiry that might help identify the culprit(s) in Human Resources and Administration.
