Suspected robbers shot dead

OSWALD SHIVUTE

A SECURITY guard shot dead two young men who allegedly tried to rob a shop at Kandjengedi near Oshakati in the early hours of Thursday.

The Police named the dead men as Adrian Giller and Ngaliala Luuli (20).

A source at the Titanic Bottle Store and Hair Salon said three young men raided the shop at about 03h00.

They allegedly tied up the security guard but he later managed to release himself and fire a volley of shots at the robbers, who fled in all directions.

Luuli was hit by one of the bullets and collapsed and died near the shop.

Giller died shortly afterwards at Oshakati State Hospital. The whereabouts of the third man is not known.

Police Liaison Officer in the North, Sergeant Samwel Hamukonda, said the Police are investigating the incident.

He could not confirm whether the two dead men were armed.
Hamukonda told The Namibian that both the deceased were from Windhoek.
