Power alert

NAMPOWER has warned residents in the Rossing, Walvis Bay, Swakopmund and Henties Bay areas of a possible power interruption tomorrow (Wednesday).

The Rossing Mine will be conducting a scheduled blast at 07:30 to facilitate the building of an access road behind the on-site acid tanks.

It will take place in close proximity to the 220kV power line, which stretches from the Omburu Substation 12 km outside Omaruru to the Rossing Mine. The line supplies electricity to the coastal areas.

NamPower said yesterday that technicians are taking all possible precautions to minimise possible blast damage and to prevent an interruption of power.
