Human arms found in plastic bag

HERMAN NGASIA at RUNDU

TWO children made a grisly find on Wednesday when they came across a plastic bag containing two severed arms near Popa Falls in the east of the Kavango Region.

A villager at Popa, approximately 210 kilometres from Rundu, who spoke on condition of anonymity, confirmed the incident.

He said when the children went to play outside their homestead a few metres from the fence of the Popa tourist camp at around 18h00, they found the plastic bag hanging from a tree.

The villager said the children thought there was something in the plastic bag and took it down from the tree. When they looked inside, they discovered two arms belonging to a human being.

The shocked children ran to the office at the nearby tourist camp to report the incident.

The Police were informed immediately and the two limbs were taken to the Andara Roman Catholic Hospital mortuary while investigations continue.

Some residents who saw the severed limbs speculated that they might belong to a young person between the ages of 14 and 16 years.

No further details could be established about the incident. - Nampa
