Justice system fair - Kawana

NO suspect or accused person in Namibia has been jailed as a result of being denied a fair trial for offences such as robbery, rape and culpable homicide, says Justice Deputy Minister Albert Kawana.Speaking in the National Assembly last week, Kawana was responding to questions by DTA MP Philemon Moongo.

Moongo wanted to know if it was true that some suspects or accused persons were sent to prison while being denied fair trial.

Kawana said prisons were only meant for people sentenced by competent courts while suspects were kept in Police remand pending trial. - Nampa
