Vietnamese leader extends visit

CHRISTOF MALETSKY

VISITING Vietnamese President Tran Duc Luong and his delegation are so impressed with Namibia that they have extended their stay by an extra day.

State House confirmed yesterday that President Luong and his delegation of close to 100 people will no longer leave for the Congo Republic this morning but tomorrow.

The Vietnamese leader will spend this morning visiting the Windhoek Machinenfabrik before going over to Okapuka Game Lodge, some 20 kilometres west of the city.

There the delegation will go on a game drive and have lunch.
Although the revised programme indicates that the delegation's afternoon is "free", indications late yesterday were that the delegation could also visit the Ramatex textile factory in Windhoek.

Agreements and the joint communique that were supposed to be issued yesterday afternoon will now be issued tomorrow morning before the delegation is whisked off to the Hosea Kutako International Airport to depart for their next assignment in Brazzaville.

When he touched down in Windhoek on Tuesday afternoon, President Luong did not hide his impressions of Namibia's beauty.

Last night Nujoma treated Luong and his delegation to a private dinner at State House.
