Nujoma draws line on terror

WINDHOEK - Namibia remains opposed to all acts, methods and manifestations of terror, President Sam Nujoma said on Tuesday night.

He was speaking at a state banquet in Windhoek in honour of visiting Vietnamese President Tran Duc Luong.

"We caution, however, that the war on terrorism must be conducted in accordance with the international law and above all it must be waged in conformity with the Charter of the United Nations," he said.

The President also condemned the continued occupation of Palestinian territories by Israeli troops.

Turning to the sub-region, he said Namibia had made modest contributions to regional and international efforts aimed at finding peace and ending conflicts in the Southern African Development Community region.

He also appealed to the international community to assist the people and the government of Angola to resettle more than four million displaced persons. - Nampa
