MAX HAMATA

A 22-year-old man was shot dead at a Karibib pub after a fist fight with a close friend on Saturday evening, the Police reported yesterday.

Police chief spokesperson Hophni Hamufungu said a 21-year-old suspect has been arrested and is expected to appear in the Karibib Magistrate's Court today.

Renchell Lourenzo Moller was shot in the left side of his chest and died on the spot - at a pub along Hidipo Hamutenya Street.

He and the suspect had allegedly exchanged blows, after which the suspect disappeared briefly, returned with a firearm and shot at Moller.

* At Walvis Bay, Police have arrested a 32-year-old man in connection with the rape of a 14-year old girl on Saturday morning.

Hamufungu said the suspect dragged the girl from a bottle store into a house at Kuisebmund. "The man threatened her (victim) with a knife and forced her to undress and had sex with her in the toilet," said Hamufungu.

* Police at Otjiwarongo are investigating a case of culpable homicide after a vehicle overturned on Friday. Herbertus Immanuel Matseuide (24) died on the spot while his four-year old daughter sustained serious injuries.

She was rushed to the Windhoek State Hospital for treatment.
The accident occurred about eight kilometres south of Otjiwarongo. Police said a rear tyre of the car burst, causing the vehicle to overturn.
