Angola and Namibia meet over refugee repatriation

TECHNICAL teams representing the governments of Angola and Namibia and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) will meet in Windhoek today to discuss the repatriation of Angolan refugees to their country.

According to a statement issued by UNHCR on Friday, the aim is to reach an agreement on establishing a commission for the promotion of voluntary repatriation of Angolan refugees between the governments of Angola and Namibia as well as the UNHCR.

Namibian Home Affairs Minister Jerry Ekandjo, his Angolan counterpart, Joao Baptista Kasuma, and UNHCR Resident Representative in Namibia, Hesdy Rathling, are expected to sign the final document tomorrow. - Nampa
