The latest developments yesterday:

* WASHINGTON/KABUL - US aircraft kept up their relentless assault on Afghanistan's ruling Taliban, with military action now in its fifth week.

* WASHINGTON - Traces of anthrax were found at the Pentagon post office, but the facility has been decontaminated and no further signs of the potentially deadly spores were found, military officials said.

* DUSHANBE - A Tajikistan official denied the government was in talks with US officials aimed at granting the United States the right to use an airbase for its Afghan campaign.

* WASHINGTON - The White House dismissed Osama bin Laden's latest videotape as propaganda which showed how isolated he had become.

* KABUL - The US war in Afghanistan will be long and American forces will face defeat once they move the conflict from the air to the ground, the Taliban's top spokesman, Amir Khan Muttaqi, said.

* ISLAMABAD - The Taliban called on the United Nations to give humanitarian help inside the country to Afghans fleeing US air strikes.

A UN spokeswoman said problems including harassment of its staff and lack of security were hampering such a course.

* ANKARA - An Islamic opposition party said it would ask Turkey's high court to cancel a parliamentary decision which paves the way to send troops to Afghanistan.

Turkey is the only predominantly-Muslim Nato member.

* TEHRAN - The UN Special Representative for Afghanistan said the United Nations hoped to ensure that a post-Taliban government reflected the will of the Afghan people.

* ISLAMABAD - Pakistan's military government filed a sedition charge against an Islamic cleric for allegedly stirring revolt against Islamabad's support for the US war on Afghanistan, police and party officials said.

* ISLAMABAD - US authorities said they were examining documents about a man who died in Taliban custody in the southern Afghan city of Kandahar to verify whether he was an American. - Nampa-Reuters
