Local Sport Shorts - Ajax Windhoek soccer tourney

ALL first and second division soccer teams are invited to enter a soccer tournament to be hosted by the newly-formed Ajax Windhoek Football Club at the Khomasdal field on August 4 and 5.

The winning team will receive N$1 500, the runners-up N$800 and the losing semi-finalists N$350 each.

The entrance fee is N$300 per team.

There will also be prizes for the top goalscorer, the best goalkeeper and the most disciplined team.

ALL soccer clubs in the Khomas region which are not affiliated to a league are invited to attend a meeting at the Goreangab Junior Secondary School at 18h30 tomorrow evening.

Internazionale go to top

WINDHOEK Internazionale went to the top of the Old Boys league after beating Young Ones 1-0 last week.

In another match SKW beat DTS 1-0.

Internazionale lead the log with 14 points from seven matches, followed by Ramblers with 13 from five matches, SKW with 13 from seven matches and Civics with nine points from five matches.

Bobby Samaria of Internazionale is the top goalscorer with 13 goals, followed by Joseph Martin of Ramblers with 10 goals and Lucky Richter of Internazionale with eight goals.

Sport administrators course

OLYMPIC Solidarity will sponsor their tenth sports administrators course to be held in Namibia since Independence.

The course, which is being organised by the Namibia National Olympic Committee, will be held at the Gammams Training Centre in Windhoek on August 1-3, while the course directors are Quinton Steele Botes, Matthews Amadhila and Tommie Numbala.

The course is being offered free of charge and a maximum of 35 participants will be allowed.
