Goraseb in the leadHELGE SCHUTZSYLVESTER 'Lollo' Goraseb has edged ahead of Mohammed Ouseb and Congo Hindjou as the Brave Warriors' most capped player, following the completion of their World Cup and African Cup of Nations qualifying campaigns this year. The 26-year old Goraseb has a record 63 caps for the Brave Warriors, followed by 27-year old Ouseb on 62 and 24-year old Congo Hindjou on 61 caps. Next on the list is Ricardo Mannetti with 55 caps, Ronnie Kanalelo with 53 caps, Robert Nauseb with 41 caps and Eliphas Shivute with 40 caps. The Brave Warriors played fourteen matches this year of which they won two, drew three and lost nine matches. They scored nine goals and conceded 34 goals. Ted Dumitru was in charge of ten of those games, of which Namibia won two, drew three and lost five matches, scoring seven goals and conceding 14. Smithley Engelbrecht, who filled in for Dumitru in Morocco and then took over when Dumitru resigned was in charge of four matches, all of which were lost, with two goals being scored and 20 conceded. Dumitru's predecessor, Lucky Richter had a record of six matches of which two were won, one drawn and three lost. Before him, Peter Ueberjahn had a record of 11 matches of which one was won, six drawn and four lost. Seth Boois had a record of six matches, of which two were won, one drawn and three lost. Rusten Mogane, with Ueberjahn's assistance as technical director, had a record of 41 matches of which 11 were won, 15 drawn and 15 lost. Namibia's most capped players this year were Danzyl Bruwer, who played in all 14 matches; Congo Hindjou and Mogale Naruseb, who played in 13 matches; and Mohammed Ouseb, Quinton Jacobs, George Hummel and Sylvester Goraseb, who all played in eight matches. A total of 41 players were used for Namibia's 14 matches this year, with 14 new caps being selected. They are Bonny Uirab, Salomo Heii, Mogale Naruseb, Steve Mbemukenga, Richard Gariseb, Dixon Witbeen, Johannes Jantze, Raymond Awaseb, Maleagi Ngarizemo, Sydney Plaatjies, Freddy Kauzuu, Pekara Kaaheke, Gerson Keister and Henrico Botes. At least 24 of the 41 players selected this year are still younger than 25 years. Eight of the 14 new caps this year come from regions other than the central Khomas region. |
